Message from the Regional Manager
A big welcome to the region’s 27 new members to the designations of Chartered Accountants ANZ being four x ACA's, 11 x AT's and 12 x CA's. We look forward to celebrating these in the coming months.
This year marks the 125th year of women’s suffrage and it was a significant occasion for our Gisborne members, whom along with the Gisborne Business and Professional Women's Federation, hosted Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as a guest speaker at a special breakfast. More than 200 people attended the sold out event, where Ms. Ardern spoke about how some very ordinary women become extraordinary and of the role of others, like the suffragettes, who laid the path for others.
The region’s fellowships nominations closed at the end of August. It was a humbling and a rewarding experience as the fellowship committee in our areas worked through the amazing achievements and contributions that our nominated members continue to provide their communities. We look forward to announcing the fellowships towards the end of the year.
My CA – Connect, Share, Learn, collaborate
Late last year, CA ANZ undertook a strategic review involving more than 100 workshops across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the United Kingdom.
During this review, members emphasised the importance of developing meaningful connections with their peers and leveraging our collective intelligence in today's connected world. The need for an online community hub to meet members’ expectations for connections and information at any time, from anywhere was determined.
My CA, will facilitate our members ability to connect, share, learn and collaborate on topics of interest as well as provide a personalised, relevant and convenient point-of-access to member services.
CA ANZ has carried out development and testing work on the hub throughout 2018 and is now well placed to enter the pilot phase. The Rural Advisory Rural and Primary Industry Group and the Business Valuation Community have been chosen to take part in the month-long community hub pilot.

Recap of last month's events
Taranaki Gala Dinner, Friday 7 September
A total of 200 guests gathered in New Plymouth to celebrate 22 new members, six 25 year milestone members and three fellows and to recognise the Taranaki 2018 Craig Norgate Memorial Scholarship recipient. Two 60 year milestone awards were also presented prior to the gala event to Jim Smale CA and Derek Quickfall FCA.
