Message from the Regional Manager
A big welcome to the region's eight new members to the designations of Chartered Accountants ANZ. We welcome Rose Craig AT, Jennie Cushen CA, Esme Du Plessis AT, Angela Brothers ACA, Kerry Hinton AT, John White CA, Lavinia Xie CA and Chanel Smith AT. We look forward to celebrating with you in the coming months.
This month has seen some changes within the RONI region team as we welcome three new staff members. Mike, Rachel and Trish are now settled in the office and are looking forward to getting out and meeting our members and making a difference within the region. We have some great events planned for the remainder of 2018 so make sure you keep up to date with what's happening and come along and join us.
Central North Island Facebook page- Now Live!
The Central North Island Facebook Page is now live and ready for you to join. This year, we’re looking for new ways to connect with our members and the Facebook page has been created exclusively for our Central North Island regional members.
To join the group, simply click on the following link and confirm your member details when requested.
Once verified, you will receive a notification welcoming you into the group. From there you can start sharing and communicating with other members in our region.
New Zealand Regional Council and Local Leadership Team Elections 2018
Our Regional Council and Local Leadership Team Elections have been running from the 8-31 October. In our region, we had a fantastic level of interest from the membership wanting to be involved to help shape the future of the profession. Keep an eye out for voting information from Electionz.com to have a say on who will represent you locally and within New Zealand in your professional body. Voting is easy – you can do this either online or by post.

Health Sector Finance Workshop, 15-16 October
Two hundred accounting professionals providing financial services within the New Zealand heath sector enjoyed the annual two-day conference in Hamilton. Congratulations to Tracy Roberts CA for winning $200 towards her next CPD with CA ANZ. Nigel Latta was the conference closing keynote speaker.
Business Insite: Ebbett Toyota
On Tuesday 16 October, Waikato members learnt more about Ebbett Toyota and had a tour of their new state-of-the-art building. James Harvey, CEO, discussed Toyota's new business model, their new building and why it's important to Ebbett Toyota to be environmentally friendly.
Taranaki Gala Dinner, Friday 7 September
Two hundred guests gathered in New Plymouth to celebrate with 22 new members, six 25 year milestone members and three fellows and to also recognise the Taranaki 2018 Craig Norgate Memorial Scholarship recipient. Two 60 year milestone awards were also presented prior to the evening to Jim Smale CA and Derek Quickfall FCA.
Business Insight – Egmont Honey, Wednesday 17 October
Thirty Taranaki members enjoyed breakfast while hearing the business story of Egmont Honey from owner James Annabel. James discussed the challenges they’ve faced and what the future holds for this successful Taranaki business before attendees enjoyed a factory tour and sampled some delicious honey.
Gisborne Gala Dinner, Thursday 20 September
Celebrating the achievements of our members in the close knit Gisborne- East Coast region, 90 people gathered at the gorgeous Bushmere Arms. Amongst those being celebrated, were three local fellows - Charles Rau, Councillor Aaron Snodgrass and Mike Torrie.
Hawke's Bay Gala Dinner, Friday 21 September
Twenty Hawke';s Bay members received new member and milestone awards and four conferred 2017 Fellows at the Mission Estate Winery, where 150 people were in attendance. Paul McAuley, Jon Nichols, Sharlene Bryant and Craig Waterhouse were recognised by their peers for their contributions to the profession and to their communities.
Sharing Knowledge - The Kaivolution Story
Thursday 22 November, PWC, Hamilton 7.30 - 9.30am
Join us as we learn more about Kaivolution - a Hamilton based food rescue and redistribution organisation with big plans for the Waikato. Kaivolution aims to stop edible food from being needlessly thrown away and act as a link between food retailers, producers and growers to support communities. They have redistributed 500 tonnes of edible food in the past four years to reduce the waste going to landfill and alleviate immediate food security challenges in our community. The Rural Advisory Committee (RAC) will also be in attendance so this will be an opportunity to come and meet the committee.
Taranaki Quiz 2018
Wednesday 14 November- New Plymouth
The Taranaki Quiz is back by popular demand so get your team together to vie for the title of 2018 quiz champions to enjoy this end of year social event. All funds raised will support the Cancer Society. So gather all your gold coins for fundraising games, a magnificent raffle draw and auction items and splash your cash for a good cause!
