The Central North Island Team has held some great events over the last month, the big highlight for the team was the Hawke’s Bay Business Summit held on the Napier waterfront on the 14 May. With just under 150 delegates attending we heard from speakers and panellists on Building Trust, Resilience, Disruptive Leadership and Effective Communication. It was great to connect with both local Hawke's Bay members as well as a few from further afield.

We were joined by the CA Catalyst team and leading tech partners that provided attendees with valuable insights and information to help their businesses met future demands.

The Icehouse leadership scholarship of $3,500 was won by two local members, congratulations to Amy Thomas and Willie Eyles.

Hawke's Bay Common Reporting Standards Round Table Discussion – 4 June

New laws to combat tax evasion have been in place since 1 July 2017. The Common Reporting Standards (CRS) for Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) is the new, single global standard which imposes due diligence and reporting obligations for New Zealand entities to identify and potentially report particulars relating to certain account holders. This might include beneficiaries of ordinary New Zealand trusts, your firms trust accounts or your corporate trust company.

The first part of this session will be a presentation by Peter Loerscher who will provide an overview of AEOI (CRS)/ FATCA, the due diligence/ reporting requirements required for 30 June and information around the risks of the incoming data.

The latter part we invite participants to take part in a round table discussion to share how they are implementing CRS – sharing knowledge around best practice, considerations, thoughts and implications, and improvements they are making to their processes.
