Celebrating our Far North Queensland award recipients

On Thursday, 23 July, members and guests gathered in Cairns city to acknowledge and celebrate 17 award recipients based in the Far North Queensland (FNQ) region.

The dinner began with an acknowledgement of country, followed by an introduction and warm welcome from QLD Regional Manager, Mark Doorly who gave the room an update on CA ANZ activities at the Trans-Tasman level.

Andrew Cornes FCA, FNQ Committee Chair spoke to activities at the local level and highlighted that the evening was not just about acknowledging the outstanding achievements of our members but also to thank the people that have supported them.

Fiona Brazier CA, Young Regional Member of the Year 2022 and one of the guest speakers for the evening, spoke about the rewards and benefits of being involved with your community and offered some pearls of wisdom to the younger cohorts in the room.

Ben Schierhuber CA, our second guest speaker for the evening spoke about his involvement within the Cairns community and the endless benefits of the CA designation. He also spoke of the importance of trust and collegiality within the profession.

The evening wrapped up with our newest members being presented with their membership certificates by QLD Regional Council Chair, Shane Simmons FCA. After leading the room with reading of The Charge, Shane acknowledged the exceptional achievements of the recipients and highlighted the important role Chartered Accountants play in our profession.

The night was an opportunity for members to celebrate their achievements, network and catch up with old friends. Congratulations to all members acknowledged and celebrated on the evening.
