Celebrating member achievements in NSW

NSW has been busy celebrating our members reaching milestones as Chartered Accountants.

In brief

  • A fortnight of celebrations
  • Welcoming our 2021 New Fellows
  • Presentation Ceremony for CAs celebrating over 25 years of membership

Over the month of June, the NSW team have been busy celebrating our Chartered Accountants reaching milestones in their careers.

Our celebrations began on Thursday 9 June, as the lights dimmed at the Hilton Sydney State Room, to begin celebrating 2021 new Fellows. On the night, NSW Regional Manager Renee Feltrin FCA awarded 18 members with Fellowship for outstanding career achievements and contribution to the profession. Our new Fellows were joined by those who nominated them, their friends and family and our FCA alumni. A complete list of all our 2021 Fellowship recipients can be found here.

On the night, Meritorious Service Awards, recognizing outstanding volunteering efforts, were awarded to Richard Stewart FCA and John Biddle FCA for their years of service to our CA ANZ panels, councils and committees.

Our Life Member Award on the night went to Dianne Hill FCA. Life Membership is the highest honour bestowed by the Council of CA ANZ to recognise the exceptional career of senior members of the profession who are widely respected both in the community and in the profession. Dianne has been a voluntary member on numerous CA ANZ committees including the NSW Council, National Council and Board. She has also served on the Members Ethical Service Panel & National Ethics Task Force, the NSW State Discipline Committee, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Foundation, as well as the Marketing Advisory Panel, Professional Development Committee for Audit and Accounting PD and Chartered Accountants in Business Committee. Dianne was joined on the night by a very proud husband and daughter.

Within her community, Jessie has served as Director of Finance at Surf Life Saving Illawarra since 2018 and Director and Chair of the Audit, Risk & Finance Committee of Oak Flats Bowling & Recreation Club since 2015. She also did a six-week secondment in an indigenous community helping Nganampa Health Council, near Alice Springs, roll out a new payroll system and was previously Treasurer of the Mt Kembla Rugby League Football Club.

The following fortnight we held our NSW Anniversary Presentation night where we recognised our members celebrating 25, 40, 50 and 60 years of being a Chartered Accountant. On the night, we heard from 25 Year Anniversary Member, Amanda Gascoigne FCA who shared her story from 25 years of being a Chartered Accountant, from using a typewriter for statements and waiting for the mail to be collected before the age of emails. Amanda’s story showed us how far the profession has come and the challenges we still face.

The night was one for networking with former colleagues and classmates catching up for the first time in years. Members such as Graham Herbert FCA, Anthony Rados CA and Craig Savage CA have been friends since university, becoming Chartered Accountants together and remain friends as they celebrate 40 years of membership.

While June is often chaotic with the end of financial year, the NSW team revelled in the joy of celebrating our members. We cannot wait to continue celebrating our members; achievements, no matter how big or small.
