CAs recognised in Australia Day and NZ New Year Honours

Chartered Accountants ANZ congratulates CAs on being recognised for the difference they have made to their communities

In brief

  • Eight chartered accountants have been recognised in the Australia Day Honours List
  • Two chartered accountants have been recognised in the New Zealand New Year Honours list
  • The Honours recognise, celebrate and say thank you to those who achieve their best and serve others.

Congratulations to all of the Australia Day and New Year Honours recipients, including the following from CA ANZ. 

Australia Day Honours 

Michael Fuller APM, Affiliate Member (NSW) – Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia 
For distinguished service to law enforcement as Commissioner of Police in New South Wales, and to criminal intelligence governance. 

Merran Kelsall FCA (VIC) – Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia 
For distinguished service to the financial accounting sector, to professional organisations, and to the community.  

Victor Hoog Antink FCA (QLD) – Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia 
For significant services to the property industry, and to corporate governance. 

Sarah Merridew FCA (TAS) – Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia
For significant service to corporate governance, and to the Tasmanian community.

Stephen Scudamore FCA (WA) – Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia 
For significant service to business and commerce, and to the mining and resources sector. 

Kristin STUBBINS FCA (NSW) – Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia 
For significant service to the financial sector, to women, and to the community. 

The late Geoffrey McNiel Ellison (past member) (NSW) – Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division 
For service to the community through a range of organisations 

Robyn Pearson-Robertson FCA (SA) – Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division 
For service to business. 

New Zealand New Year Honours 

John Dobson FCA – Queen’s Service Order, For services to people with disabilities

Mr John Dobson, of Hamilton, has been a driving force behind Life Unlimited, originally the Disabled Living Centre (Waikato) Trust, as a founding Trustee from 1979 and Chair since 1991. He led the growth and change to Life Unlimited in 1997, to reflect the wider scope of services offered to the sector nationally, bringing together three charities providing various support services for people with disabilities to become one organisation with a comprehensive business framework. 

Additionally, he has chaired Hamilton Gardens Development Trust since 2012, overseeing significant fundraising. Read more about John’s Honour

Kenneth (Ken) Morris CA – Queen’s Service Medal, For services to the community 

Mr Ken Morris, of Cambridge, has been a cornerstone of his local community across many roles. He has been the National Treasurer of Boys’ Brigade New Zealand since 2014, serving on the Executive Committee and as a member of the Executive Management Team.  

He has been Waipā District Council’s Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive. He has voluntarily chaired the Waikato Local Authority Shared Services Insurance Advisory Group and the Shared Valuation Database Service Advisory Group. Additionally he and his wife Karen have managed the catering for the annual Baptist Youth Ministries Northern Easter Camp, and have managed Festival One’s General Store since 2016.  Read more about Kenneth’s Honour

Anita Mazzoleni (Past member) – Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, For services to corporate governance 

CA ANZ would also like to congratulate Ms Anita Mazzoleni, of Cambridge, a former member with an extensive career as a lawyer, chartered accountant, director and advisor. Ms Mazzoleni held significant roles as Director and Chair of Audit and Risk and Finance committees for major public companies, non-governmental organisations and iwi businesses.
