CA ANZ elects office holders for 2023

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Council has announced the incoming 2023 President and Vice Presidents for Australia and New Zealand.  

In brief

  • Murray Harrington FCA has been appointed CA ANZ President for 2023
  • Tinashe Kamangira FCA will serve another year as Vice President for Australia
  • The CA ANZ Council has also appointed Grant Ellis FCA as Vice President for New Zealand

Current New Zealand Vice President Murray Harrington FCA has been appointed President of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) for 2023 by the CA ANZ Council. 

The Council also appointed Grant Ellis FCA, who is based in Auckland, as the new Vice President for New Zealand and Tinashe Kamangira FCA will continue his role in Australia.  

All positions commence on 1 January 2023 and conclude at the end of the year.  

The CA ANZ Council thanked outgoing 2022 President Kate Boorer FCA for her leadership, hard work and commitment to the profession across Australia and New Zealand, and globally, over the past 12 months.

CA ANZ Chair John Palermo FCA, also thanked Ms Boorer on behalf of the Board, the Council, CEO, executive team and our people. At a dinner in Sydney last night, he said:

“The feedback from members far and wide has been praise for Kate’s attitude, energy and passion for the profession. She will be remembered for leading the membership and bringing our community together.”

About Murray Harrington FCA  

Murray holds a number of directorships and governance roles in infrastructure, tourism, education and local government. For many years Murray was a Partner in PwC where he provided a range of services including risk advisory, consulting and financial advisory. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of Nomos One Limited, a lease accounting software company which serves customers across a number of countries.  

Prior to this, Murray was a business owner, having successfully purchased, grown and exited businesses and worked internationally for Mobil Corporation.  

About Tinashe Kamangira FCA  

Tinashe is a Director at Deloitte Australia. He has more than 16 years of accounting, taxation and business advisory experience, serving private businesses and their owners.  

He was previously in the Private Advisory Practice of Grant Thornton in Perth and also worked for Grant Thornton Sweden as part of the talent mobility program.  

Tinashe is a member of the WA Regional Council and was chair in 2019 in addition his role as a CA Program Facilitator and exam marker. He also sits on various boards, finance, audit and risk committees for local and international organisations.  

Tinashe has a Bachelor of Commerce and majored in Accounting and Finance at Curtin University of Technology, Perth. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Information Systems and Information Technology.

About Grant Ellis FCA  

Grant is currently the Chief Financial officer of NZX and ASX listed Restaurant Brands New Zealand Limited. He has been a Chartered Accountant for 36 years, working in the corporate sector for most of his career, in a number of finance roles with major New Zealand companies.

He has a military background, serving in the New Zealand Army reserve for 21 years. He is a past-President and a Life Member of the Auckland Officers’ Club and currently sits on its Investment Committee. He also is a Trustee of the Ranfurly Veterans’ Trust. Grant has previously served his local community on the board of the local primary school, residents associations and a number of yachting and boating organisations.
