CA ANZ elects office holders for 2021

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Council has announced the incoming 2021 President and new Vice Presidents for Australia and New Zealand.

  • The CA ANZ Council has also appointed Kate Boorer FCA as Vice President for Australia
  • Murray Harrington FCA was appointed Vice President for New Zealand

Dr Nives Botica Redmayne FCA has been appointed President of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) for 2021 by the CA ANZ Council.

The Council also appointed Kate Boorer FCA as the new Vice President for Australia and Murray Harrington FCA for the role in New Zealand.

All positions commence on 1 January 2021 and conclude at the end of the year. 

The CA ANZ Council thanked outgoing President Peter Rupp FCA for his leadership in a challenging year for both the member organisation and members, starting with the Australian bushfires and concluding with ongoing uncertainty and opportunities presented by COVID-19.

In his final address as President to CA ANZ's 2020 AGM, Peter Rupp paid tribute to, and thanked outgoing Australian Vice President Peter O’Regan FCA, and outgoing Councillors Lorraine Watt FCA and Richard Dey FCA for their contributions to the Council.

Dr Botica Redmayne is an Associate Professor in accountancy at the Massey University School of Accountancy, Massey Business School in New Zealand.

Her main area of research and expertise is assurance, in particular the highly specialised area of economics and production of assurance services and assurance markets. Her other area of expertise and research is in financial reporting and auditing.

Nives has contributed to the development of professional standards, guidance and policies for practicing auditors and regulators in New Zealand.

She is also a member of the New Zealand Accounting Standards Board, a sub-board of the New Zealand External Reporting Board and is a board member for several Manawatu community groups and societies.

About Kate Boorer FCA

Kate is the CEO of Young Professional Women Australia and Founding Partner of Pearman & Partners, a consultancy that specialises in aligning organisational culture with business strategy.

Kate has worked in both public practise and the private sector before moving away from a traditional finance career pursuing an entrepreneurial path.

Before becoming a Councillor, Kate has been involved in both the design and delivery of the Mentor Exchange Program since its inception and is a regular speaker at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand conferences and events.

About Murray Harrington FCA

Murray is the Chief Executive Officer of Nomos One Limited, a lease accounting software company which serves customers across a number of countries.

He holds a number of directorships and governance roles in infrastructure, tourism, education and local government. For many years Murray was a Partner in PwC where he provided a range of services including risk advisory, consulting and financial advisory.

Prior to this, Murray was a business owner, having successfully purchased, grown and exited businesses and worked internationally for Mobil Corporation.
