CA Induction Event – 22 January 2018

This event was a great opportunity for our newest CA candidates to put their networking skills into practice in a relaxed environment whilst meeting fellow candidates also commencing their Chartered Accountants journey. 

The event featured a presentation from a module leader and recent graduate who covered:

  • Advice and study hints as you learn how to plan your progression through the program and become a Chartered Accountant
  • An insight into the learning resources available to you, including the Candidate Study Guide, virtual classroom options and more
  • An understanding about how you will be assessed in the modules

future[inc] Future of Talent Paper, Auckland Launch Event – 20 February

Talent, or at least the skills we think of as being desirable for tomorrow's talent to possess, is changing. In business and elsewhere, technical skills are being overtaken by the human touch - by the problem solvers, the creatives and the communicators.

The Auckland launch of our latest future[inc] thought leadership paper - the Future of Talent - will include a keynote address from Greg Savage, Global recruitment industry leader and spokesperson. Greg will then join a fantastic line-up of panellists to discuss the paper including:

  • Dr Julie Harrison, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting & Finance at the University of Auckland Business School
  • Marisa Fong, Co-founder of Madison Recruitment
  • Russell Windsor, Partner, People & Culture Leader, PwC

The panel will be facilitated by Peter Vial, NZ Country Head for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and webcast live to our national Membership.

Business Briefs: Evolving Finance Functions – 6 March

Business Briefs are concise information sessions on today's Business issues presented by industry experts. Each session has been designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools to face the latest topics and trends that effect your business, while supporting key networking opportunities. In this session of Business Briefs, Paul Helm will discuss evolving finance functions from stewardship to a catalyst for change across the wider state sector. 

Guests will hear how the Office of the Chief Government Accountant and Head of the Finance Profession for the State sector are working to help finance teams challenge the way they operate and what they focus on. They are helping to move from processing and stewardship functions to adding increased value with analytics and insights. Helping teams to change and building sustainable state sector finance functions ready to adapt and support the business of their agency through partnering with the business side of an agency are key areas that the OGA are focused on.

International Women’s Day Auckland Breakfast with Makaia Carr – 8 March

We will be celebrating International Women’s Day in Auckland with a champagne breakfast featuring Makaia Carr, a business-minded entrepreneur, who is an astute and influential powerhouse - especially when it comes to women, both in business and wellness.

Makaia is one of those charismatic people that you can't help but be drawn to. Her honesty is one of her best assets - and she is unafraid to call it how she sees it. She's naturally tactful, enabling her to tackle some of the tough issues in a sensitive and insightful way. This extends to sharing her own battles with motivation, fitness and mental health - inspiring her tens of thousands of fans to feel comfortable with their stories too.
