Business Briefs: Emotional Intelligence and Engaged Leadership – 10 October

In our latest session of Business Briefs, we heard from Peter Blyde, owner of Catalysta4. Peter works with the University of Auckland Business School as a consultant to develop and deliver executive development programmes for corporate clients. He shared his insights on developing people's leadership and strategic abilities, as well as how to help teams deepen their effectiveness through self-awareness. We had a great turnout with 401 attendees, registered both in person and online.

Mentor Exchange Launch Event - 16 October

The Mentor Exchange Program is a career support program for Chartered Accountants ANZ members which aims to create successful, mutually beneficial mentor and mentee relationships. The launch event was an opportunity for our mentees to meet their mentors in person for the first time, as well as receive information and resources about the programme.  More than 40 mentees and mentors are registered for the Auckland cohort.

Auckland New Members Ceremony – 17 October

Our newest members who obtained their ACA, AT and CA designations, attended the Auckland New Members Ceremony at the Pullman Hotel and celebrated their achievement with friends, family and peers. Rob McDonald FCA, Chartered Accountants ANZ Board director, attended the event to present the certificates to our new members. We also heard from Priya Singh, CA, who shared her career journey and provided insights about being a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and what this meant for her and the opportunities it has created. It was a great night of celebration with almost 150 new members and more than 200 guests.

Auckland Inspiring Breakfast Series with Jake Millar - 14 November 

Unfiltered co-founder and CEO Jake Millar joins us in Auckland to share his journey, business stories, insights and how to enjoy your business expedition. Jake is a 21-year-old entrepreneur currently based in the United States and is co-founder and CEO of Unfiltered. In 2015, he built his first company Oompher. Just two months later he sold it to the New Zealand Government. Jake then went on to co-found Unfiltered, where Rob Fyfe and Kevin Roberts both serve as Board of Directors. This event can be enjoyed by members both in person and via live webcast.

YAG Speed Networking Event - 14 November

Networking can be one of the most powerful and productive activities an individual can do to launch and manage their career. The Auckland Young Accountants Group will host a Speed Networking Event, where attendees will have the opportunity to network and meet business leaders and industry experts in a relaxed and informal setting. Leaders will share stories on how their CA designation has facilitated career opportunities and our young members will be able to tap into their knowledge and wisdom.

Business Briefs: Framing Effective Conversations for maximum impact - 22 November

Toni Snelgrove is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation, (ICF), the leading global organisation dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of credential coaches.  In this session, Toni will cover, 'Framing Effective Conversations for Maximum Impact'. The session will provide examples and case studies to arm the audience with practical tools to be more effective in their conversations.

An Evening with Matt Watson, Northland - 28 November

Matt Watson, extreme fisherman and face of the ITM Fishing Show, will join us in Whangarei on Wednesday 28 November to share his journey. Known by several aliases including, The Extreme Fisherman, The Fishing Guy and The ITM Fella, Matt is a passionate fisherman, father and a proud Kiwi. He's best known for revolutionising fishing television here and around the world, as well as being highly recognised for his commitment to conservation and charity work. Matt will have us totally hooked throughout the evening as he shares some of the challenges and successes he has encountered along the way.
