The Future of Business - "Public Sector Symposium"
The Public Sector Symposium was held on Thursday, 21 June with over 200 members attending the conversation facilitated by Kieran Gilbert.
The keynote speaker was Professor Genevieve Bell followed by Victoria Stuart Co Founder of Beam Australia who were joined for the panel discussion by Petr Adamek CEO Canberra Innovation Network and Dr Craig Latham from Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman.
The discussion explored, with businesses being responsible for around 70% of gross value added and over 85% of employment in our economy. Businesses are facing unprecedented levels of uncertainty and competition. Increasingly important is businesses having broader social responsibility to attract and retain customers. (If you’d like to see more, view the recording on the CA website).
Whilst on the topic of social responsibility, I was contacted by Marymead to encourage our members to assist in raising 1.3 million to build to Care Cottages to provide short-term crisis accommodation for vulnerable children. For more information on how you and your firm can assist, you can visit to their website.
