Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) recognises the outstanding professional achievements of our members in 2023, by awarding 224 new fellowships and 1 new Life Membership.

Congratulations to our Fellowship recipients. This honour is a testament to their outstanding career achievements and noteworthy contributions across various facets, whether within CA ANZ, the community, business, or academia. Their dedication to giving back, excellence, resilience in the face of challenges, and unwavering hard work have truly set them apart.

Fellowships

Fellowships are a peer-to-peer recognition of a member’s career achievements. Fellowships distinguish members who have made a contribution to the accounting profession through their distinguished careers, services to their community, participation in professional bodies or dedication to research or writing within the field.

Fellowships have been awarded to 224 members across 8 countries including Australia, Tonga, the USA, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and New Zealand.

Life Member

Life membership is the highest honour available to CA ANZ members and recognises the exceptional careers and service of senior members of the profession.

Life membership is a prestigious award with a cap of only 40 members at any given time. There are currently 30 life members.

Congratulations to Jeff Lucy FCA on being awarded life membership of CA ANZ. This is a fitting tribute to his remarkable career and contribution to the Australian business community. As the first non-lawyer Chair of ASIC, this life membership is a well-deserved recognition of his leadership and lasting impact on the accounting profession.

Jeff Lucy FCA

Jeffrey Lucy AM FCA

Based in South Australia, Jeffrey Lucy became a CA member in 1972. While serving as a CA member, Lucy went on to become the first non-lawyer Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Throughout his illustrious career, Lucy worked as chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), participated as a member of the Business Regulation Advisory Group and represented Australia and NZ as a Trustee on IFRS Foundation. Lucy was also a former managing partner of the Adelaide office of Price Waterhouse Coopers. 

As an esteemed member of the CA community, Lucy was appointed the CA ANZ president from 1989 to 1990. Lucy dedicated further service to CA ANZ as a South Australia/Northern Territory council member and went on to serve as council chair from 1991 to 1992. 

As an active participant in the accounting profession, Lucy was accredited as a fellow for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), National Institute of Accountants (NIA), ICAA and CPA, and was admitted to the University of Melbourne Accounting Hall of Fame. In 2001 Lucy was honoured as a member of the Order of Australia for service to the accounting profession, to the business sector as an advisor on corporate law and taxation reform, and to the community. Lucy was also inducted to the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2015.
