If you’ve been a member for 7 years or less, we will pair you with a senior CA in your region who aligns with your career ambitions and goals.

Develop your career

Early in your career you may have important decisions to make. A mentor can help you reach clarity on the right choices and guide you on setting career goals.  If you’re faced with professional challenges or obstacles along the way, a mentor is there to offer valuable perspective gained through more than a decade of experience in the profession.

Are you ready?

  1. Apply before 17 August by answering a profile questionnaire that helps us pair you with the right mentor. The nominal application fee of A$165 or NZ$184 contributes to resources and support.
  2. At an introductory workshop in your local area in October, meet your mentor and learn how to get the most out of the programme. 
  3. Meet with your mentor at least four times over six months.

  • Programme Details

    How long is the programme?

    It runs for 6 months, from October to April, but an ongoing relationship is up to the participants.

    Who’s involved in the programme?

    Mentees have been full members for up to 7 years, Mentors have been members for more than 10 years.

    Where is the programme offered?

    Our CA ANZ offices:

    • Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Tasmania;
    • NZ: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Bay of Plenty, Dunedin.

    How much is the fee?

    A$165/NZ$184 (inclusive of GST). The nominal fee contributes to the costs of providing resources and administering the programme.

    How do I apply?

    Complete a profile questionnaire, then we’ll match you as closely as possible with an appropriate mentor in your local area.

    When do I meet my mentor?

    At an introductory workshop in your local area.

    What happens at the introductory workshop?

    At the workshop, facilitated by experienced mentoring professionals, you will:

    • receive resources and tools to begin the mentoring process
    • discuss with your mentor the best way to communicate during the programme
    • network with fellow CA ANZ members.

    Can I claim CPD hours?

     Yes, 6 formal CPD hours. We’ll record them on your membership record at the end of the programme.

  • The Mentor’s Role

    Will my mentor contact me?

    No, it’s your responsibility to stay in touch with your mentor.

    Will my mentor help me find a job?

    No, your mentor’s role is to provide advice, guidance and support.

    How many times should I meet my mentor?

    At least four times over the course of the programme, though the frequency is up to you.

  • Programme Success

    What should I do to make the most of the programme?

    Set your goals for the programme and establish an action plan. Your motivation will be driven by the goals you set, so be realistic and use your mentor as a sounding board.

    We understand there are times when members won’t be able to proceed with the programme. Please let us know as early as possible.
