Subject description
Sustainability for Accountants equips you to develop your awareness of environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts on organisations, and the role Chartered Accountants play in linking these issues to broader business agendas. You’ll learn how to contribute to and influence organisational values, culture, strategy and practices to align with sustainability principles, practices, frameworks and standards. You will also develop the skills to evaluate changes in sustainability practices and reporting, and to communicate sustainability considerations to stakeholders. Throughout the subject, you’ll apply your learning through activities and an assessment that simulate real-world experiences of how sustainability principles are applied in practice.

Subject learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, you will be able to:
- Critically evaluate environmental, social and governance principles in the context of an organisation’s values, culture, and strategy
- Apply sustainable business practices that contribute to the achievement of desired stakeholder outcomes
- Critically review and prepare sustainability reporting in accordance with relevant standards and applicable legislation
- Effectively communicate sustainability principles and practices to inform and influence stakeholders.
