In brief

  • Each year in Australia we have a number of Regional Council positions to fill, a mix of elected and appointed positions
  • Each Australia Council is made up of six elected and three appointed members

Council Elections 2020

The results of the Council election process 2020 has resulted in the following successful candidates being appointed for terms which will commence from 1 January 2021 for a period of three years:

Queensland Council Election:

Voter participation in this region was 9.40% (923 votes).

Victoria Council Election:

Robert Dennis
Fiona Hansen
Voter participation in this region was 7.73% (1,405 votes).

New South Wales Council Election:

Jo Balcomb
Julie Louise Cowley
Voter participation in this region was 6.00% (1,600 votes).

South Australia/Northern Territories Council Election:

Jodie Silvester
Anthony Stewart
Voter participation in this region was 9.67% (377 votes).

Western Australia Council Election:

Michael Carey

Voter participation in this region was 10.37% (713 votes).

Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Council Election:

Voter participation in this region was 16.55% (251 votes).

Tasmania Council Election:

Voter participation in this region was 15.88% (134 votes).

Council Appointments 2020

Applications for one appointed position on each Australian regional council will open from 19 October – 6 November 2020. This position will have a term of 3 years and members can apply using the form below. Please submit this form to:
