Board Director Opportunity

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand is seeking a suitably qualified candidate from within its membership, based in New Zealand, to join the Board from 1 January 2020.

Your membership body operates under a best practice governance model overseen by Council, Board of Directors and Executive Team. The role of the CA ANZ Board is to be responsible for the development of long-term strategy and performance, including key policy and operational issues.

The Nominations and Governance Committee and the CA ANZ Council are seeking members to nominate themselves as a candidate for a role on the Board who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • A strong understanding and commitment to the principles of corporate governance, along with a sound understanding of a director's legal duties and responsibilities;
  • Strong leadership and the ability to maintain effective professional and working relationships with stakeholders
  • The ability to contribute to an effective board culture; and
  • Demonstrable knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • Risk assessment
    • Strategic planning
    • IT technology transformation particularly in Education technology space
    • Inclusive and diverse work cultures
    • Advocacy in the public interest with key Government decision makers or Regulators
Also, preference will be given to candidates with skills and experience in:
  • tikanga Māori
  • Public Sector – National or local Government
  • Public Policy and Regulation
  • Member or not for profit organisations
  • Board experience is preferable but not essential

Nominations and Governance Committee Opportunity

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand is seeking a suitably qualified candidate from within its membership, based in Australia, to join the Nominations & Governance Committee from 1 January 2020.

Following completion of the 2019 Member Vote and subject to Governor-General approval of amendments to the Supplemental Royal Charter and By-Laws, the Nominations & Governance Committee composition will reduce to 5 members. This will include the President and the Board Chair together with 3 independent members.

The criteria for the Nominations & Governance Committee independent member is a member based in Australia with significant governance experience and has never held an official position within CA ANZ (including as a Director, a member of CA ANZ Council, CA ANZ management, a Regional Councillor or an Overseas Regional Councillor or a member of any other CA ANZ committee).
